Facetnate! - New exhibition opens
The Facetnate! emerging artist program is now in full swing, featuring 3 artists in contention for the Japan Foundation New Artist Award and one invited guest artist. The exhibitions will run until 28 August with the chance to meet the artists on selected dates. For full details of each artist and exhibition please click here.

Facetnate! continues in June with a ghostly theme - Andrea Innocent (aka innocentgirl) explores Japanese folklore and ghost stories in a contemporary context, incorporating traditional art forms such as ukiyo-e (floating pictures) with modern approaches such as Superflat and Steampunk. Innocent's limited edition prints are accompanied by a video projection of Japanese sounds and images, creating an eerie atmosphere for visitors to explore.

New Library Shelving!
children books
audio & kit
As some of you may have noticed, the library was closed from Friday 22 - Tuesday 26 May for the installation of new shelves. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience during this time. There have been some changes in the location of library resources as a result of the new shelving installation. The major changes are as follows:
  • All children's books are now located in the "Children's Corner". This shelf puts books at children's eye level and allows display of some items (see photo).
  • The shelving that housed Arts/Sculpture/Painting/Ukiyo-e is now a dedicated CD&Kit area, holding the CD collection as well as all Japanese language Kit items, including past papers for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (see photo)
  • Capacity for DVDs and manga has been increased in order to allow the library to continue to add to these collections.
  • Some items (including Japanese language learning resources) have been moved slightly to make way for the above changes.
We hope that the new shelving and restructure improves your experience in using the library. If you have any questions about new locations of library items, please don’t hesitate to ask one of our staff.
