Special Half-day Seminar at the Japan Foundation, Sydney - 13 July

The AFMLTA conference will be held from 10 July to 12 July and the JSAA-ICJLE conference will be held from the evening of 13 July to 16 July in Sydney. In conjunction with these two conferences and to offer an opportunity for those who cannot attend, we will conduct a half-day seminar for teachers of Japanese. This seminar will focus on how to introduce/ teach culture in Japanese classes using PPT presentations and movies. Please come and join our workshop!

Workshops by our language consultants
In June, our language consultants will conduct workshops at Japanese Teachers’ conferences in South Australia. In July, we will present a workshop at the AFMLTA conference and a panel session and paper presentation at the JSAA-ICJLE Conference in Sydney. Hope to meet you there!

2009 Online Basic Japanese Courses for Teachers of Japanese 2009 Term 3 new!

The 2009 Term 3 Online Basic Course will start from 27 July 2009. Applications close on 24 July. In Term 3, we will offer Stages 1, 2 and 3 of the Basic course, and the Online Japanese Writing Course.

Speech Contest
The 2009 Speech Contest information has been uploaded and we renewed the site. Please check the website for information about your state’s speech contest. You can also download guidelines, handy hints for students, classroom ideas, and check the 2008 results including the winners’ videos from this site.

Our new Nihongo event, 'Video ' begins this year, The objective of this festival is to enable students to use their creative abilities to showcase their Japanese and we hope students and teachers will be inspired to create a video using Japanese. 2009 Japanese Web Page Contest - results announced
The winners of the 2009 world-wide Japanese Web Page Contest for elementary/secondary schools and Japanese language schools have been decided. The Japan Foundation, Sydney contributed a lecturer as one of the judges of this contest. The results and all the contestants’ sites are now displayed on the site.

JSAA-ICJLE 2009 International Conference - July 13-16, 2009

The Japanese Studies Association of Australia (JSAA) is delighted to host JSAA-ICJLE 2009. Featuring research and discussion in various disciplines of Japanese language and studies, the main theme of the conference will be "Bridging the gap between the Japanese language and Japanese studies". The conference aims to provide a forum for Japanese language and studies academics and educators from around the world to meet and share ideas beyond and across their disciplines.
