Don’t miss out - applications for the 2009 JLPT close on Friday 4 September 2009.
The JLPT is conducted worldwide annually in December to evaluate and certify Japanese language proficiency of non-native speakers. The 2009 test will be held on Sunday 6 December 2009.Application forms can be downloaded from our website, or obtained from the test organizers in each state.

| 40th Japanese Language Speech Contest Audience members welcome |
The annual Japanese Language Speech Contests are currently being held in each state and territory and all winners in each division will proceed to the National Final in Sydney on Saturday 10 October.
The NSW Final will be held at the Japan Foundation multipurpose room on Saturday 19 September, please check our website for the day's program. All are welcome to join us in listening to the contestant's speeches and enjoy our special 'Cos Corner' attraction. Don’t forget your cameras!

Thank you for all your interest in our Video Matsuri. We are looking forward to seeing your entries! The objective of this festival is to enable students to use their creative abilities to showcase their Japanese and we hope students and teachers will take the challenge to create a video using Japanese! There are 4 divisions: Primary, Junior Secondary, Senior Secondary and Tertiary.

| Cowra Sakura Festival |
The festival is held from Monday 21 September to Saturday 26 September at the Japanese Garden in Cowra and is based on the traditional Japanese festival of the same name. During this time the Garden celebrates the coming of spring, focusing on Japanese culture and the beauty of the delicate cherry blossom.
During the seven day Festival a number of Japanese cultural events and workshops are held including Ikebana, Origami, Calligraphy, kite making and flying, tea ceremonies, music recitals, sake tasting, bonsai demonstrations, Sumo Wrestling, Aikido, Karate and Tai Chi.

JAL Foundation biennially organise 'World Children’s Haiku Contest', and we are happy to announce that the 11th contest is to be held this year. All winning haiku will be collected and published next year as an anthology titled 'Haiku by World Children’'.
